Mount Kulal Expedition
Mount Kulal rises from the eastern shore of Lake Turkana to 2,285 metres a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve whose ecological significance derives from the extraordinary contrast between the lake shore desert below (800 metres, 40°C+) and the cool, misty alpine forest above (2,300 metres, 18°C). The transition, experienced in a 2-hour drive from Koros, is the most compressed ecological gradient in northern Kenya.
